OUR STORY
of providing excellent eating pigs
Palouse Hills Pork was born from our family's passion for agriculture and farming. For over 75 years, we have been carefully raising our pigs. Our legacy was started by Leroy Cocking, the current owners' father. Leroy and his business partner and wife, Mary Jane, loved animals and their pig farm. Together, they grew their sow herd of 20 sows to 330 sows in the span of 30 years of hard work and determination. They grew show pigs and meat pigs depending on what the clients and community wanted. They showed and sold pigs at the Spokane Interstate Fair, Washington Pork Producers Gilt and Boar Sale, the Spokane Livestock Auction, the Seattle Rosauers, Hill Meats, Masami Foods, and 20+ local butcher shops. The businesss was eventually passed down to Leroy's, son and current owner of Palouse Hills Pork, Tom. Tom Cocking took on the responsibilities of maintaining the family business. Together, Tom and his wife Robin have continued to grow the company to what it is today. He also continues to supply pigs for local 4-H and FFA kids, local butchers, and his customers.

OUR FEED
At Palouse Hills Pork, we believe that a happy pig starts with a healthy diet. Our pigs get fed five different rations for the different growth stages of pigs. This helps balance out the protein, amino acids, calcium, and phosphate levels as the pig grows. The main ingredient is barley, wheat, or triticale, followed by garbanzo beans or peas. Washington State University's Animal Science Department developed the vitamin and mineral mixes along with the calcium, phosphorous, salt, and amino acids requirements to balance our rations. This ensures a high-protein diet and ensures that they receive all the essential proteins, vitamins, and minerals needed for optimal growth and development. All feed mixes are prepared and grinded in a feed mill original to the property and built in the 1950"s.
